Dibakar Banerjee revealed that he cannot make 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' today. He called his directorial debut film patriarchal.
Dibakar Banerjee바카라™s directorial debut, 바카라˜Khosla Ka Ghosla바카라™ is considered to be one of the finest Hindi films and also his best work to date. However, in a recent conversation, the filmmaker said that he cannot make that film today because it is patriarchal.
Speaking on 바카라˜Unfiltered by Samdish바카라™, Dibakar Banerjee said that he cannot relate to 바카라˜Khosla Ka Ghosla바카라™ anymore. The only emotion that he feels with the film is nostalgia. He said, 바카라œKhosla Ka Ghosla is a very patriarchal film. I can바카라™t make a film as patriarchal as that anymore. It will feel like a lie.바카라
Explaining the patriarchal angle of the film, the director said, 바카라œIt바카라™s about the father and the sons. All the female characters are helpers, they are all enablers. The character of Tara Sharma in Cherry바카라™s life is also an enabler.바카라 He mentioned that not just the film, but the characters are patriarchal as well. He added, 바카라œAt the end of the film, all of them live together in that 바카라˜train-coach바카라™ type house. I don바카라™t agree with it anymore. This is not how it should be. 바카라˜Khosla Ka Ghosla바카라™ revolves around a middle-class man who tries to gain possession of his land and ends up losing his savings. Starring Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Vinay Pathak, and Ranvir Shorey, the film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi in 2006. It proved to be a commercial success. The film has also been remade in Tamil and Kannada.
However this year at the Busan International Film Festival, it was announced at the Asian Contents and Film Market that this film is being remade in Telugu, Marathi, and Kannada as well.
