French actor Juliette Binoche has been appointed as the President of the International Jury of the 78th Cannes Film Festival. It was announced by the festival organizers announced Tuesday. Binoche becomes the second woman to preside over the jury. The first woman to hold the position was the Barbie director and producer Greta Gerwig.

Juliette Binoche has been appointed as the jury head of the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Juliette Binoche shared a statement with the media where she said, "In 1985, I climbed the steps for the first time with the enthusiasm and uncertainty of a young actress'', in reference to her debut appearance at the Cannes for her film Rendez-vous (1985), for which director André Téchiné bagged the Best Director award.
She added, "I never imagined returning 40 years later in this honorary role as jury president. I am aware of the privilege, the responsibility, and the absolute need for humility''.
On the work front, Binoche was recently seen in Coco Chanel in Apple TV 's The New Look. She also appeared in The Return, with her The English Patient co-star Ralph Fiennes.
The 78th Cannes Film Festival, will take place from May 13 to May 24, 2025. The lineup will be unveiled in mid-April.
