Homebound Premieres At Cannes 2025: Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, Karan Johar And Neeraj Ghaywan Attend The Screening

Filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan has returned to Cannes with his sophomore feature Homebound, which was screened in Un Certain Regard section of the 78th edition of Cannes Film Festival. He is back ten years after his pathbreaking debut Masaan was selected in the same section at the prestigious festival. Francesco Sossai's The Last One For The Road is also part of today's screening in the same category.

Homebound's screening took place on May 21, with Neeraj Ghaywan and the film's main leads- Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor. Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, the producers of the film, also attended the world premiere.

For the premiere of Homebound, Janhvi opted for a custom Anamika Khanna couture- a backless mint green gown with a long trail. The upper part of gown was embellished with antique gold embroidery. For the accessories, she wore a mix of "archival traditional Indian jewels mixed with custom jade and jadao creations". Her jewellery included earcuffs, jhumkas, bangles, gold kada, rings and a back chain.

For the hair, she styled it in a sleek bun and chose minimal makeup with light pink eye shadow, mascara-adorned lashes, flushed cheeks, and rosy pink lips.

She yet again owned the red carpet with her mesmerising look.

Karan Johar wore a heavily embellished jacket by Rohit Bal and paired it with black pants. Ishaan kept his look simple as he donned a brown waistcoat with a pair of matching pants and a white shirt. Vishal was in black checkered jacket and pants by Kaushik Velendra. Ghaywan looked dapper in a black suit.

In his speech, Ghaywan said they made the film with lots of passion and it's both "personal" and "universal". Karan Johar shared a video on his Instagram Stories, where he revealed Homebound receiving a 9-minute standing ovation. He was also seen hugging emotional Ghaywan as the applause continued.

Set against the backdrop of rural North India, Homebound is the story of two childhood friends who dream of becoming police officers but the desperation becomes a threat to their bond.

For the unversed, Neeraj Ghaywan's debut Masaan, received the FIPRESCI prize and the Promising Future prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and it is still a cult movie which received acclamations both in India and internationally.
