Unni Mukundan Confirms Marco 2 Being Shelved, Says 'Too Much Negativity Around The Project'

Marco actor Unni Mukundan confirmed that the sequel has been shelved, citing 'negativity' around the film.

Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan's 2024 film Marco, was praised for its intense stunts, performances, cinematography, background score and stunning visuals, but it received criticism for excessive violence. Following its success, Marco sequel was in the pipeline. But, Unni has confirmed that Marco 2 has been shelved but he promises to bring 'something bigger, better'.

Unni Mukundan on why he dropped Marco sequel

In a post, the actor replied to a fan who asked about the sequel. He wrote, "bro, apologies, but I have dropped plans to continue the Marco series. Too much negativity around the project. I바카라™ll try my best to bring something bigger and better than Marco. Thanks for all the love and positivity. Cheers (sic)."

On Sunday, the actor took his Facebook account to share a montage of pictures of his character from Marco and wrote, "Hasta la vista, Marco. Best A-rated farewell song, dedicated to my most loved A-rated character." When a fan asked, "Any chance for part 2?" To this, he replied, "Absolutely no chance."

Unni Mukundan played Mark D Peter Jr, who takes the path of violence after the murder of his foster brother. Marco was directed by Haneef Adeni and produced by Shareef Muhammed under his Cubes Entertainments banner. The neo-noir action thriller also starred Siddique, Abhimanyu, Shammi Thilakan, Jagadish, Kabir Duhan Singh, Anson Paul, Ishaan Shoukath, and Yukti Thareja in significant roles. The film, which was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 30 crore, earned Rs 102.55 crore worldwide.
