On January 14, 2007, Abhishek and Aishwarya got engaged and tied the knot on April 20, 2007. It was an intimate wedding that happened in both North Indian and Bengali customs. An old video of Aishwarya from an interview has gone viral where she is seen talking about the surprise roka ceremony.

In the viral video, Aishwarya said, 바카라œThere바카라™s something called a roka. We바카라™re South Indians, so I don바카라™t know anything called a roka. Suddenly, there is this call from their (Abhishek바카라™s) house to ours that 바카라˜We are coming바카라™. My dad was out of town and we were like, 바카라˜Okay바카라™. I was like, 바카라˜Dad바카라™, and he was like, 바카라˜Yeah, it바카라™ll still take me a day to come바카라™."
She added, ''Pa (Amitabh Bachchan) and everyone was like, 바카라˜We are coming바카라™, and Abhishek is like, 바카라˜I can바카라™t stop him. We바카라™re on our way. We바카라™re on our way this evening. We바카라™re coming to your place.바카라™ I was like, 바카라˜Oh my god.바카라™ So this roka is happening with a call to my father who바카라™s out of town. Mum바카라™s here, we are here. They바카라™ve all arrived and are emotional and I바카라™m like, 바카라˜Oh my god, it바카라™s happened.바카라™ Then they바카라™re like, 바카라˜Come on, let바카라™s go home바카라™. I바카라™m like, 바카라˜What just happened here? Is this an engagement?바카라™ Then they were like, 바카라˜Just come home.바카라™ Then I was sitting on our show바카라™s set".
