Well-respected theatre personality T.K. Shanmugam had been using Bharati바카라™s songs in his theatre productions from as early as the late 1920s. Shanmugam, following the success of his play BilhÂanan (1948), based on the legendary eleventh-century Kashmiri poet of the same name, decided to turn it into a film. A song from Bharati바카라™s Kannan Pattu, 바카라˜Thoondil puzhuvinai pol바카라™ (Like the worm in a bait바카라”a song on the pining of a lover), which Shanmugam had used in the play, was to be included in the cinematic version as well.
