2019 Ford Endeavour (Everest) Launched In Thailand, Gets New Diesel Engine

The 2019 Ford Endeavour facelift has been launched in Thailand. It is the first market to receive the updated SUV, which was first unveiled in May 2018 in Australia. We바카라™re reluctant to call it a facelift since cosmetic changes are hard to find. But there바카라™s a major update under the hood of the full-size Ford SUV.

In Thailand, the 2019 Endeavour (Everest) is powered by a new 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine that is available in two states of tune: 182PS/420Nm and 215PS/500Nm (with twin-turbo) with a new 10-speed automatic transmission. In India, the pre-facelift Endeavour is available with a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder and a 3.2-litre, 5-cylinder diesel unit paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

It remains to be seen whether Ford continues to offer the current set of diesel engines or introduces the newer 2.0-litre 4-cylinder unit in India. If Ford decides to continue with the current engine lineup, they will have to be updated to BS-VI standards in 2020.

Apart from a new engine, the new Endeavour features a larger three-slat grille and slightly updated bi-xenon headlights on the outside. It now gets Ford SYNC3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and push button start as standard across all variants. In India, Ford offers the SYNC3 on the Endeavour from the Trend variant onwards.

With the update, the American carmaker has also taken the Endeavour's safety quotient up by a notch. Along with features like seven airbags, ABS with EBD, hill launch assist, electronic stability program (ESP) and traction control (TC), the refreshed SUV now gets autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and pedestrian and vehicle detection.

These new safety features are unlikely to be a part of the India-spec car. Ford does not offer advance safety features like adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane keeping system (LKS) and blind spot detection system (BDS) with rear cross-traffic alert on the Endeavour in India, which it does on the Everest in Thailand.

Although Ford has not yet confirmed the 2019 Endeavour바카라™s India launch, we expect the updated SUV to land here by early 2019. And when it does, it will continue its rivalry against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Isuzu MU-X, the upcoming new Honda CR-V and Mahindra Rexton. In terms of pricing, the new Endeavour is likely to be priced at par with the current model, which is priced from Rs 26.32 lakh to 32.81 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
