This is the strange and painful tale of Allah Jilai
If you pay close attention, these are all miracles of love

As she arrived in Azimabad from Allahabad,
her singing and beauty became the talk of the town,

At the prime of her youth, pinnacle of charm,
her personality was discussed by the entire populace,

The way she often smiled with grace and pride,
the pomp and style that she carried with herself

Words fail me as I try to narrate her story
there were so many aspects to her persona

She had attained unparalleled success
in her profession,

So much was yet to be enjoyed
of her hard-earned wealth,

But alas! she brought such a disease
with her from Calcutta,

Her health was already on the wane
as she returned here,

It was the 11th day of the month of Rajab
that the day of reckoning arrived,

This fairy-face had seen only 24 years in her life

Was this any age to die?
or the time to enjoy oneself,

The blooming flower of this garden
dried off at its prime without seeing the world
and nothing was left except to mourn,

Oh Lord! not just sinners but even unbelievers
eventually trust in the power of your forgiveness

It is with a cold heart that I tell this tale
and pray to you

Please grant her a place in a corner of heaven.

अल्लाजिलाई की कब्र पर कुतबा (Epitaph)

'अजब ही वाक्या है दर्दनाक अल्लाह जलाई का

बगौर इस को जो देखो सब करिश्मे थे मोहब्बत के

एलाहाबाद से आकर अजीमाबाद में रहना

किया तारीफ इस के गाने की वह चर्चे उसकी सूरत के

जवानी का जमाना जोश पर, हुस्न शबाब उस का

जबान खलक पर किससे वह उसकी आदमीयत के

कभी नाज के साथ इसका हर दम मुस्कुरा उठना

करिश्मे इस के सारे दिल पसंद अंदाज आफत के

कोई बागबाॅ तब तक जबाॅ पारी नहीं देती

जब इसके नूर असबाब भी थे उसकी शोहरत के

बहुत कुछ इसने हासिल कर लिया था अपने पेशे में

बहुत कुछ थे भी सामा बाकी कसब दोलत के

कुछ ऐसा आरजा कलकत्ता जा कर साथ ले आई

यहाॅ पहुंची तो थे मोद्दाम सब आसार सेहत के

महीना था रजब का गयारवी यानी जुमा का दिन था

के पहुंची अजल जाहिर हुऐ अन्दाज रेहलत के

दगा की उम्र ने चौबीसवे साल में परीवश से

बिछरने का जमाना न था के दिन थे ऐश व ईशरत के

वह फूल इस बाग में खिलता हुआ मुर्झा गया ऐसा

जो देखा कुछ न था बाकी बचा इस के सीरत के

दुआ इसकी करो बकश दे सारे गुनहगारो को भी या रब

भरोसा है तेरे फरमान तेरी शान रहमत के

जगह दिलवाये या रब इसको एक गोशे में जन्नत के

दिल से दुआ देकर कही है तारीख ये मैंने'
