Canadian Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Party Justin Trudeau is expected to announce his resignation this week, the Globe and Mail said in a report. This decision is expected amid a loss of confidence in Trudeau바카라™s leadership. The ruling Liberals are expected to lose power and his own legislators are urging the Canadian PM to step down and let someone else take over.
According to the report, it remains unclear if Trudeau will leave immediately or stay on as prime minister till a new leader is elected. It is expected anytime before a key national caucus meeting on Wednesday, it said.

Chandra Arya, a Trudeau loyalist, acknowledged that the only option now is a leadership change.
In December, Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland resigned following a policy dispute. This was followed by opposition parties announcing plans to unite in an effort to bring down the minority Liberal government. Despite this, Trudeau made it clear that he had no intention of stepping down. Since Freeland바카라™s resignation, however, the Prime Minister has largely remained out of the public eye. He spent much of his holiday at a resort in western Canada and has yet to reveal any decisions regarding his political future.
Reports also highlighted that pressure from the neighbouring USA and Trump 2.0 could be the reasons for the resignation. President-elect Donald Trump, whose election win is likely to be certified on Monday, has time-and-again referred to Justin Trudeau as the governor of the 51st state of the United States - hinting at acquiring Canada. The two leaders reportedly discussed Trump's intention to impose a 25 per cent tariff on all Canadian products.
If the Canadian PM resigns this week, it will almost certainly affect India-Canada relations - which have been strained over the last few months over the killing of Khalistani activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Justin Trudeau has previously accused New Delhi of making a 'massive mistake' by allegedly killing Nijjar on Canadian soil. His team has, however, not presented any evidence to support this claim.
A leader replacing Trudeau might inherit his policies which could mean the continuance of tension between India and Canada. On the contrary if the Conservatives take over, they might approach India differently, focusing more on economic partnerships and shared geopolitical concerns.
Trudeau became the leader of the Liberal Party in 2013, during a period of crisis that saw the party fall to third place in the House of Commons for the first time in history. With a federal election required to be held by late October, the Liberals are widely expected to face a significant loss.
