Greta Thunberg Sets Sail To Challenge 바카라�Livestreamed Genocide바카라� In Gaza, Who Is The Activist?

바카라�We are doing this because, no matter what odds we are against, we have to keep trying. Because the moment we stop trying is when we lose our humanity,바카라� said Greta Thunberg as she broke into tears while speaking of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. 

Greta, along with 11 other activists set sail for Gaza on a fishing boat called 바카라�Madleen바카라�, with the aim of 바카라�breaking Israel바카라�s siege바카라�. The sailing boat departed from the port of Catania in Sicily, southern Italy, on Sunday as part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition.

Greta Thunberg commenced her activism as a child in 2018 when she challenged lawmakers in Sweden to address the issue of climate change. Greta, who was just 15 at the time, propelled people all around the world to consciously consider the issue of climate change. Her sail aims to achieve precisely this effect, but in Gaza바카라�s context. 

Greta spoke of the mission바카라�s necessity asserting that, 바카라�And, no matter how dangerous this mission is, it바카라�s not even near as dangerous as the silence of the entire world in the face of the livestreamed genocide.바카라�

Who is Greta Thunberg?

Greta Thunberg, born in 2003 is a Swedish environmental activist who became aware of climate change when she was eight-years old. The issue had such a profound impact on her psyche that it spurred a series of radical changes in her lifestyle including going vegan and not travelling by airplanes. Born to two artists, with her mother being an opera singer and her father an actor, Greta expanded her support for the cause beyond her personal sphere in 2018.

Her first bid to aid the cause was to push lawmakers into addressing climate change. This led to a school climate strike movement called 바카라�Fridays for Future,바카라� for which she amassed global recognition. In September 2018, she missed school to sit outside the country바카라�s parliament with a sign that read 바카라�Skolstrejk för Klimatet바카라� (School Strike for Climate). As her strike went on leading to the Swedish election, she was joined by more and more people garnering significant international attention. 

Following the election, Thunberg returned to her school but continued skipping classes on Fridays in protest. This protest spurred thousands of students from countries like Canada, Belgium, the United States, the United Kingdom, Finland, Denmark, France and the Netherlands to skip school on Fridays and show their solidarity for the cause.

The protest catapulted Greta바카라�s stature as a climate activist at just 15 years of age. After the protest, she was called to speak about climate change at several renowned and prestigious forums including the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, the European parliament and a United Nations climate event in New York city. 

The UN event drew eye-balls from around the world as she traveled on an emissions-free yacht and made a rousing speech stating, 바카라�You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money, and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!바카라� Her passionate speech stirred sentiments as millions of protesters marched in climate strikes in more than 163 countries that month. This phenomenon of staunch climate activism came to be known as 바카라�the Greta Effect.바카라�

In 2019, Greta became the youngest-ever Time Person of The Year. Apart from her accolades and global recognition, she also published her book, 바카라�The Climate Book바카라� including essays from 100 scientists, writers and activists offering a solution-oriented approach to counter climate change. 

Her sail to Gaza marks yet another movement to highlight an issue that the world is failing to address. For Greta Thunberg, this sail highlights that causes are not restricted by geography but instead amplified by urgency. The Madleen may never reach Gaza but the voyage is already posing the question its organisers intended to raise.
