11th International Yoga Day Sees Record Participation

From a record-breaking event in Visakhapatnam to the lawns of the Supreme Court, millions joined in to mark the 11th annual yoga day celebration

On Saturday, a record number of people celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga across India and around the globe. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation's main event from a 26-kilometre stretch along the coast in Visakhapatnam, where thousands gathered for a massive synchronised yoga session.

In Andhra Pradesh, a massive gathering of thousands of participants at the state-led International Yoga Day celebration in Visakhapatnam set a new Guinness World Record for the most people performing the Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) together in one location.

The spirit of celebration was seen all over the country. In Navi Mumbai, 10,000 people joined a session organised by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority. In Thane and Indore, inmates at central jails also participated in yoga programs inspired by the Prime Minister바카라s mission of "Yoga for One Earth, One Health."

Even the Chief Justice of India (CJI) joined in, attending a special yoga session that was held at the Supreme Court complex in Delhi. India바카라s CJI BR Gavai was seen performing yoga asanas alongside other judges and court staff. He also addressed the gathering, lending the judiciary's powerful voice to the national event and emphasising the importance of a healthy and balanced life.

Bollywood actors and sports personalities also joined in, sharing photos and videos on social media to encourage their followers to embrace a healthy lifestyle.

Internationally, the day was marked with large gatherings, from a major event in Beijing led by the Indian Ambassador to a celebration with 15,000 people at the iconic Mysuru Palace.

As people from all walks of life rolled out their mats on the 11th International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said 바카라Unfortunately, today the entire world is going through some tension, unrest, and instability have been increasing in many regions. In such times, yoga gives us the direction of peace. It is the pause button that humanity needs to breathe, balance, and become whole again,"
