In the past two weeks, police has arrested 12 people, including a YouTuber, two women, and a postgraduate student, across Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi on charges of espionage and spying for the Pakistani intelligence officers.
Citing police sources, PTI reported that six people were arrested in Punjab, four in Haryana, and one each in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The accused were allegedly in contact with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani intelligence officer posted at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, who was expelled from India on May 13 for espionage activities.
In Punjab, according to PTI, Falaksher Masih and Suraj Masih were arrested from Ajnala in Amritsar on May 4 for allegedly sharing photographs and strategic details about Army cantonments and air bases. The duo also allegedly monitored troop movements near the border and sent them to Pakistan바카라s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
On May 11, Punjab Police arrested 31-year-old Guzala and Yameen Mohammad in Malerkotla. Police told that the duo had received ₹30,000 via UPI from Pakistani handlers. Guzala reportedly admitted during interrogation that she received the money in two instalments for passing on sensitive information.
Two more suspects, Sukhpreet Singh and Karanbir Singh, were arrested on May 15 in Punjab. According to PTI, they are accused of providing Pakistan with inputs about Operation Sindoor and troop deployments across Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh. The two allegedly used social media platforms to communicate with their handlers.
In Haryana, Nauman Ilahi, 24, was arrested on May 15 from Panipat. Originally from Kairana in Uttar Pradesh, Ilahi was working as a security guard at a factory and is suspected of sending strategic information to Pakistani operatives.
Another arrest followed on May 16, when Devender Singh (25), a postgraduate political science student, was picked up from Kaithal. As reported by PTI, Singh had traveled to Pakistan on a pilgrimage in November 2024 and allegedly continued contact with Pakistani handlers after his return. He is accused of sharing photographs of the Patiala cantonment.
One of the most high-profile arrests was that of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who runs the channel Travel with JO. According to PTI, she was arrested from Hisar for her alleged communication with Ehsan-ur-Rahim. Malhotra, who had previously visited Pakistan and China, reportedly maintained contact with the expelled diplomat during a recent military standoff and was being cultivated as an 바카라asset.바카라 She is currently under five-day police remand under charges related to the Official Secrets Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Hisar Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan told that her travel and financial history are being examined.
PTI further reported that on May 18, Haryana Police arrested 26-year-old Armaan from Nuh district for allegedly transmitting information on troop movements through WhatsApp and social media. He is in six-day police custody.
A day later, Haryana police along with central intelligence agencies conducted a joint operation and arrested another person, according to PTI. The arrests have heightened concerns among Indian intelligence agencies about Pakistan바카라s use of romantic manipulation and financial lures on digital platforms to recruit informants.
