At Least 12 Dead In MP As Van Hits Bike, Plunges Into Well

The dead include four women, the bike rider and a local man who entered the well and rescued four persons before falling unconscious.

At least 12 people were killed in Madhya Pradesh바카라s Mandsaur district on Sunday after a private van carrying 14 passengers hit a bike, veered off the road and fell into a well, officials said.

The dead include four women, the bike rider and a local man who entered the well and rescued four persons before falling unconscious, The Hindu reported.  The van was from Ujjain and Ratlam districts and the passengers were headed to a famous temple in the area.

The incident occurred around 12 noon in Kachariya village under the Narayangarh police station area, district officials said.

 Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said, 바카라We are all deeply disturbed by the incident. All the authorities and several locals were involved in the rescue efforts. There was too much water in the well, people also tried to pull some of it out,바카라 adding that financial assistance will be provided to the victims바카라 families.

Mandsaur Superintendent of Police Abhishek Anand stated that a rescue operation was launched immediately and 11 bodies were pulled out. 10 of them had died of drowning while the local man - named Manohar Singh - died of inhaling the gas leaked from the car. The van바카라s driver was also killed in the accident. The rescue operation went on for almost eight hours.

바카라Four people, including a girl, 3, and a boy, 10, were rescued from the well by Manohar Singh and other locals,바카라 the SP said. The four injured are receiving treatment at the district hospital, Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda said, according to The Hindu.

The SP said that an investigation has been launched to assess if the van - which ran on CNG - was operating within standard norms, and why it had 14 passengers overboard.

After that the driver lost control over it and it drifted off to the wrong side of the road, broke the wooden fencing and fell into the well near a temple. It also broke the metal mechanism installed on top of the well used to pull out water,바카라 he added.

The deputy CM reached the spot of the accident and expressed grief over the tragic accident.
