DNA identification of the victims in process; Singapore Airlines under fire for silence over the Ahmedabad Air Crash
Identification Of The Victims In Process
One week after the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad, authorities have identified 190 of the 270 people killed in the airplane crash. As of June 18, 159 bodies have been returned to their grieving families.
The identification process has faced challenges because many victims were badly burnt in the crash. Doctors are relying on complex DNA testing to identify the victims.
The air crash happened on June 12 when a London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed moments after taking off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
Of the 242 people on board, 241 died, leaving just one survivor seated on 11A. The plane crashed in a residential area, killing an additional 29 people on the ground.
The Indian government has launched a high-level investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation and a special committee have been assigned to the probe and are directed to submit a report within three months.
Former Aviation Minister Questions Singapore Airlines
In the aftermath of the Ahmedabad air crash, Former Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel on Wednesday publicly criticized Singapore Airlines, a major partner in Air India, for its "deafening silence" following last week's deadly crash in Ahmedabad.
Patel questioned why the airline had not made a public statement, pointing out its significant role in Air India. Singapore Airlines owns a 25.1% stake in Air India and was involved in appointing its current CEO, Campbell Wilson.
In a post on social media, Mr. Patel said, 바카라In all the sorrow and din surrounding the Air India crash, there remains a surprising silence 바카라 or perhaps ignorance 바카라 about the role of a substantial shareholder, and the entity responsible for maintaining a large number, if not all, of Air India바카라s wide-body aircraft.Guess the name: Singapore Airlines. They seem to be in hiding. Let바카라s not forget 바카라 they have a say in management and a codeshare agreement with Air India. Importantly, Campbell Wilson, the CEO of Air India, is a nominee of Singapore Airlines. He previously served as CEO of their low-cost subsidiary, Scoot Airlines. Why this deafening silence, SQ?바카라
Following this public criticism, Singapore Airlines spokesperson said, 바카라The Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group extends our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of everyone affected by the devastating Air India flight AI171 accident. We have been in close contact with our partner Tata Sons and Air India, and continue to offer our full support and all necessary assistance to them during this difficult time.바카라
