Security forces arrested five persons linked to banned militant groups across Manipur바카라™s Imphal East, Imphal West, and Thoubal districts on Thursday, police officials said on Friday.

According to PTI, two members of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF-Koireng) were caught from Andro Parking and Khurai Konsam Leikai in Imphal East. A firearm and several rounds of ammunition were seized during the arrests.

In Thoubal district, personnel apprehended an operative of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (People바카라™s War Group), or KCP (PWG), from Khangabok Part II. As per officials cited by PTI, the suspect was allegedly involved in extortion.

Another individual associated with the banned outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (SOREPA) was picked up from Khonghampat Awang Leikai in Imphal West, the police added.

Meanwhile, a cadre of the People바카라™s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Prepak-Pro) was detained from Heirok Part III in Thoubal. Security personnel recovered two rifles, a hand grenade, and additional ammunition from him, according to a senior police officer.

These arrests are part of intensified operations in the state, which has witnessed heightened tensions since violent ethnic clashes erupted in May 2023 between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities. Over 260 lives have been lost, and thousands have been displaced due to the ongoing conflict.

Following the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, the Centre imposed President바카라™s Rule in the state on February 13, 2025. Though the legislative assembly is technically in place until 2027, it currently remains under suspended animation.
