Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal was inducted into the Maharashtra cabinet scheduled on May 20. The 77-year-old veteran politician confirmed the development, saying he has been informed about his inclusion in Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's council of ministers.

PTI reported that within the ruling BJP, which leads the Mahayuti coalition in Maharashtra, also confirmed Bhujbal's induction. The Mahayuti alliance comprises the BJP, the Shiv Sena, and the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the NCP.

Bhujbal바카라™s return to the cabinet comes months after his notable exclusion from the December 2024 cabinet expansion, which had sparked discontent among his supporters. As a prominent OBC leader and seasoned political figure, his absence was seen as a significant omission, drawing public expressions of disappointment from the Yeola MLA himself.

His inclusion fills the vacancy left by fellow NCP leader Dhananjay Munde, who resigned from the post of food, civil supplies, and consumer protection minister in March. While Munde cited health issues, his resignation came amid controversy involving his aide, Walmik Karad, who was named a key accused in the murder case of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.

A political stalwart with a career spanning several decades, Bhujbal has previously served in multiple ministerial roles, including as Deputy Chief Minister. His extensive experience is expected to strengthen the Mahayuti cabinet as the alliance heads into a critical political period.

The allocation of Bhujbal바카라™s portfolio will be decided by Chief Minister Fadnavis and announced following the swearing-in ceremony.
