The Odisha government on Sunday announced that it plans to ban the sale of liquor and non-vegetarian food within the two-kilometre radius of the Puri Jagannath temple. Speaking to reporters, Law Minister Prithviraj Haridchandran stated that the move is to preserve the sanctity of the temple.
According to Harichandran, alcohol sales will be prevented within a two-kilometre radius whereas non-vegetarian food establishments will not be allowed to function within the three-kilometre radius.

We will soon come out with a policy that bans the sale of liquor within a two-kilometre radius of the temple. There will be no bar within that area. The government is also planning to regulate the height and facade of all the buildings along the Grant road, popularly known as the Bada Danda. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) had earlier requested the Housing and Urban Development Department to provide the norms for uniform designs for buildings around the temple.
The law minister stated that, 바카라We will soon release a plan to give a uniform appearance to all buildings on the Bada Danda. We have initiated work on how to standardise those buildings that face the Bada Danda. There will be a uniform height and a consistent front elevation for all buildings on the stretch.
