The firing for the second consecutive night came at a time when tensions are high between India and Pakistan after the terror attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed.

The exchange of fire for a second consecutive night came amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan following Tuesday's Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists.
As per the reports, the Pakistani troops fired at Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday night as well, and India had retaliated appropriately.
"On the night of April 25 and 26, unprovoked small arms firings were carried out by various Pakistan Army posts all across the LoC in Kashmir," a source told PTI.
"Indian troops responded appropriately with small arms," they added. No casualties were reported in the firing.
The Pakistan military has been put on high alert following India's assertion that it would hunt down the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam strike.
In view of the cross-border linkages to the Pahalgam attack, India on Wednesday announced a raft of punitive measures, including the suspension of the 65-year-old Indus Waters Treaty, the closing of the Attari land-border crossing and the expulsion of Pakistani military attaches.
In a separate incident on Friday, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district. Sources said one terrorist was injured in the encounter while two senior police officers were also injured.
The gunfight started after security personnel launched a cordon and search operation in the Bajipora forest area after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists. The terrorists opened fire.
A day earlier, a special forces jawan was martyred in an encounter between joint security forces and militants in Udhampur district.
Following the deadly attack in Pahalgam, the United Security Council has issued a statement condemning the attack and extending condolences to India.
"The members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of India and Government of Nepal and wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured," the statement reads.
