The Manipur government imposed prohibitory orders in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thobul, Kakching and Bishnupur districts following protests on Saturday night. The protest erupted over reports of a Meitei outfit leader Arambai Tenggol being apprehended, reported PTI. The clashes injured at least three people in Imphal.
Prohibitory Orders Issued As Fresh Protests Erupt In Manipur
The protesters clashed with security forces in the state capital on Saturday night.
The protestors torched tyres and old furniture in the middle of the road demanding an immediate release of the leader, PTI reported. The situation remains tense in the area as of Sunday morning with a total curfew imposed in Bishnupur district. Security has been amplified along the Raj Bhavan with additional reinforcement from the central forces.
The district magistrate of Imphal West has released a statement saying, "The Superintendent of Police in Imphal West has reported serious breach to peace, disturbance to public tranquillity, riot or affray in the area, and grave danger to human lives and properties due to unlawful activities of anti-social elements.바카라
Prohibitionary orders have been imposed in the area banning the assembly of more than five people. Carrying sticks, stones, firearms, or sharp weapons has also been banned under sub-section 2 of Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
In Imphal East district, residents have been directed to refrain from stepping out of their homes from 10 PM till June 10 until further orders.
A restrictive order has been issued by Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Home), N. Ashok Kumar stating, "In view of the prevailing law and order situation, especially in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching and Bishnupur districts, there is apprehension that some anti-social elements might use social media extensively for transmission of images, hate speech and hate video messages to incite the passion of the public, which might have serious repercussions on the law and order situation of the state."
The order directs the suspension of internet and mobile data services including VSAT and VPN services in five districts of Manipur.
"The order is being passed ex-parte in view of the emergent situation. Any person found guilty of violating the order will be liable to face legal action,바카라 he said.
