Petitioner blames Bengal government for failing to control unrest, forcing families to flee to Malda.
A petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Monday, calling for a court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the recent violence in West Bengal바카라s Murshidabad district. The unrest broke out during protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, with the petition alleging that the violence was targeted at the Hindu community.
Advocate Shashank Shekhar Jha, who filed the petition, sought action against the West Bengal government and state police, accusing them of failing to maintain law and order.
Jha urged the Supreme Court to ensure an independent SIT investigates the incident under its supervision. Describing the violence as politically motivated, he wrote on social media platform X: 바카라Waqf is an excuse, Hindus are the target. This suffering must end.바카라
The violence, which occurred on April 12, claimed three lives and displaced several families, some of whom reportedly took refuge in the neighbouring Malda district.
The petition further requested compensation and rehabilitation for the victims, and emphasized the need for the court바카라s intervention to prevent further escalation and to safeguard the lives and liberties of those affected.
The incident has ignited a political storm in the state. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of turning a blind eye to what it described as targeted attacks on Hindus. The TMC, however, hit back, accusing the BJP of spreading misinformation and fuelling communal tensions for political mileage.
