After criticising the Supreme Court and BR Ambedkar, Dinesh Sharma, former deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and ex-mayor of Lucknow left the Bharatiya Janata Party.

This action came after the party distanced itself from Sharma when BJP president JP Nadda took on X to give a statement.

But who is Sharma and what were his comments?

Sharma criticised BR Ambedkar and the Supreme Court and said: "According to the Constitution of India, no one can direct the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and the President has already given her assent to it. No one can challenge the President, as the President is supreme."

A professor of Commerce at the Lucknow University, Sharma has deep roots in the RSS and is seen to be an approachable leader. He forayed into politics with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the RSS바카라s student wing, and also served as its Lucknow Mahanagar president.

Sharma바카라s Rise

Starting his political journey at the grassroots level as a ward president in the BJP, Sharma steadily climbed the ranks. He went on to serve as the state president of the party's youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. In 1998, he was appointed vice-president of the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation.

In 2004, Sharma played a key role in former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee바카라s Lok Sabha campaign from Lucknow, serving as the convenor of his election office and a member of the election management committee.

His major political breakthrough came in November 2006 when he was elected Mayor of Lucknow바카라a BJP stronghold with significant support from upper castes and Shia Muslims. He was re-elected in 2012 with a sweeping margin of 1.71 lakh votes.

Sharma바카라s rise within the BJP continued, and in 2014 he was appointed the party바카라s national vice-president and later made Gujarat in-charge. He also led the BJP바카라s post-election membership drive that same year, helping it become the 바카라world바카라s largest political party.바카라

In 2016, Prime Minister Modi attended the Ram Leela in Lucknow바카라s Aishbagh on Sharma바카라s invitation, illustrating his links to the BJP senior leadership.

The following year, while he was serving as the Mayor of Lucknow, the BJP appointed him Deputy CM in the first Yogi Adityanath Cabinet.

Not First Time In Controversies

This is not the first time that the BJP has distanced itself from Sharma바카라s comments.

In 2018, he sent the party scrambling to control damage after he suggested that Sita was a 바카라test-tube baby바카라.
