The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference will approach the Indian Supreme Court if there is an inordinate delay in restoring statehood to J&K, Farooq Abdullah the president of the NC said on Saturday.
"We are waiting, but if they (Centre) take a long time then we will have no option but to go to the Supreme Court," said Abdullah, speaking to reporters after a meeting of the party workers in South Kashmir.
"After the elections, people wanted their issues to be resolved immediately, but statehood (not being restored) is stopping us. They have many demands like they want him (National Conference MLA Altaf Kaloo) to become a minister, but how is this possible till statehood is restored," he said PTI reported.
He added NC's stand remains unchanged. 바카라We are committed to a democratic and peaceful struggle, but at the same time, we will not remain silent if our basic political rights continue to be denied,바카라 he said.
Abdullah's remarks come at a time when NC continues to push for statehood for Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier this week, Abdullah had addressed party workers in Pulwana and said the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood is not a concession but a constitutional right.
Addressing a meeting of NC workers in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, the former chief minister called for an immediate return to full democratic authorityin the region.
