Fortune Barishal emerged victorious over Dhaka Capitals by eight wickets thanks to captain Tamim Iqbal's 61-run knock and Dawid Malan's unbeaten 49 runs while chasing a modest target of 140 runs in Chattogram.
The Capitals opted to bat first and were off to a flying start after opener batter Tanzid Hasan made 62 off 44 balls. But no other batter could score big runs and the team was restricted to 139 runs. Tanvir Islam took three wickets whereas Faheem Ashraf grabbed a brace of wickets.

The Capitals have won the toss and elected to bat first against the defending champions from Barishal.

Dhaka Capitals are languishing at the bottom of the table, and they need to win their remaining matches to keep playoff hopes alive. After losing the first five matches, they broke the winless run with a 149-run thumping of Durbar Rajshahi on Sunday.
In that match, Tanzid Hasan (108 off 64) and his fellow opener Litton Das (125 not out off 55) slammed centuries as the two-time champions (2012 and 2013) posted the highest total in BPL.
Barishal, meanwhile, have three wins and two defeats, and with a Net Run Rate of +0.838 are third in the seven-team table (six points). In their last outing last week, Barishal beat league leaders Rangpur Riders by three wickets.
There will be no TV broadcast of the Bangladesh Premier League 2024-25 match in India.
However, the live streaming of the BPL match will be available on the FanCode app and website.
In another development, Durbar Rajshahi have apologised for the late payment of fees to their players and promised to clear fifty-per cent payment by January 16.
