Whether Shubman Gill is fined by the ICC for wearing black socks depends on the match referee. If match referee Richie Richardson decides that the incident was a deliberate breach of the guidelines, it will be seen as a Level 1 offence, as Gill can be fined between 10 and 20 per cent of his match fees.

However, a report from Wisden said that Gill can possibly escape the penalty if his regulation white socks were unavailable due to being wet or damaged.
