Greetings and welcome to everyone joining us today. We will bring to you the build-up, rain forecast and live updates from the second T20 international between Ireland and West Indies.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30pm IST. The IRE vs WI clash will be live streamed on the FanCode app and website in India. It will not be telecast on any TV channel in the country.
The weather in Bready, Northern Ireland is again forecast to be overcast. After rain put paid to the first match of the series, the second game today is also under threat of a washout. As per Accuweather, broken intervals of rain with occasional showers are predicted during the course of the clash. Below is the hourly weather forecast in the area:
Ireland: Paul Stirling (c), Ross Adair, Lorcan Tucker (wk), Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Mark Adair, Craig Young, Barry McCarthy, Joshua Little, Benjamin White, Matthew Humphreys, Liam McCarthy
West Indies: Evin Lewis, Johnson Charles, Shai Hope (wk/c), Sherfane Rutherford, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Romario Shepherd, Gudakesh Motie, Jason Holder, Matthew Forde, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Keacy Carty, Jyd Goolie
Ireland and West Indies have faced each other eight times in T20 internationals so far. The Windies and Irish have won three games apiece, and two matches ended without a result.
Like the previous game, rain has affected the start of the second T20I as well. The toss has been delayed due to wet conditions in Bready. In the opener, no toss was possible due to rain. It remains to be seen whether we will have one tonight.
It is still raining fairly heavily in Bready, and the umpires have walked out with their umbrellas to speak with the ground staff. We should have had a pitch and ground inspection by now as per schedule, but with the downpour steady, it is not possible as yet.
With the rain unrelenting, the umpires and match officials have decided to keep the next inspection at 8:30pm IST, that is, 4pm local time. Let's see if the downpour abates by then. For any play to be possible, the rain has to completely stop first and the puddles of water drained out.
While it is still raining, the weather appears to have got gloomier at the venue with the skies more overcast than before. The pitch and the square remain covered, and we have an inspection coming up in about 15 minutes. The rain must relent for the inspection to be of any utility, however.
As scheduled, the umpires and match officials are inspecting the playing conditions currently. They are still holding aloft their umbrellas, however, which is not a great sign. We will share the latest update on possible toss timing or next inspection once it's out.
We have official confirmation coming in that the match has been abandoned without a toss, due to all the rain in Bready. The frustrating news means this is the second consecutive game in the series that has been called off without any play, and the three-game series now becomes a one-match shootout.
The third and final Ireland vs West Indies game, which has become a winner-takes-all decider now, is scheduled to be played at the same venue on Sunday, June 15 at 7:30pm IST. It remains to be seen whether the weather allows for play in that match.
