After opting to bat first, Punjab Kings had posted a strong 201 for 4, riding on stellar half-centuries from Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya.
The pair stitched together a 120-run stand at the top, with Arya smashing 69 off 35 balls and Prabhsimran hammering 83 off 49. KKR, however, pulled things back towards the end, conceding just 40 runs in the final five overs to limit PBKS from posting an even bigger total.
Chasing the target, Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a cautious start, reaching 7 for no loss after one over before a sudden thunderstorm disrupted play.
Strong winds sent debris swirling across Eden Gardens, even blowing the covers into the stands. Although the ground staff moved swiftly to protect the pitch, persistent rain meant there was no further action possible, eventually leading to the game being washed out.
