The rain-disrupted low-scoring match saw Mumbai Indians posting 155/8, well below par on a good batting surface after asked to bat first. Gujarat struck early as Mohammed Siraj and Arshad Khan removed Ryan Rickelton (2) and Rohit Sharma (7) cheaply. The early blows left Mumbai reeling at 26/2 in the powerplay.
Mumbai바카라™s hopes rested on Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav, who stitched together a promising 71-run stand to rebuild the innings. Jacks was the aggressor with a 35-ball 53, while Suryakumar continued his rich vein of form with a fluent 35 off 24.
However, wickets at regular intervals halted Mumbai's momentum. Sai Kishore dismissed both Hardik Pandya (1) and Suryakumar, while Rashid Khan and Gerald Coetzee chipped in with vital breakthroughs. Despite a brief late flourish from Corbin Bosch (27 off 22) MI's target was not enough until rain made fans at Wankhede happy.
Gujarat바카라™s chase began shakily with Sai Sudharsan departing for 5. But Gill (43 off 46) and Jos Buttler (30 off 27) fought through the rain threats and a strong Mumbai attack kept GT on course.
Rain halted play after the 14th over, with Gujarat at 113/2. On resumption, Bumrah bowled a beauty to castle Gill, which saw a mini-collapse of the visitors. Trent Boult then trapped Rutherford LBW, and Bumrah returned to dismiss Shahrukh Khan, tilting the momentum back in Mumbai바카라™s favour.
With the heavens opening again, Gujarat were 10 runs behind the DLS par score after 18 overs. Another brief delay reduced the target to 147 in 19 overs, meaning GT required 15 off the final six balls.
Rahul Tewatia started with a boundary. Then Gerald Coetzee launched a six, followed by a no-ball single that levelled the scores. And then Coetzee get caught trying to finish in style.
But Arshad Khan nudged the final delivery for a single, sealing a three-wicket win for GT in an edge-of-the-seat finish.
With this win, Gujarat Titans moved to the top of the IPL standings with 16 points replacing Royal Challengers Bengaluru by virtue of better NRR. However, MI shift to fourth place with 14 runs. Mumbai's loss also ignited Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders' playoff push.
The match saw only 302 runs across both innings, which is the lowest match aggregate in Mumbai-Gujarat IPL history.
It also marked the first time this season none of Gujarat's top three (Gill, Sudharsan, Buttler) reached a half-century.
After today's knock SKY reclaim the orange cap with a total of 510 runs, just one run ahead of Sai Sudharsan. Shubman Gill is third with 508 runs. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is placed fourth with 505 runs. Some close hidden battle is going on.
Prasidh Kirshna picked one wicket today and remain in charge of the purple cap with 20 wickets, 2 more than Josh Hazlewood and Trent Boult.
