Matt Henry has the ball in hand for the BlackCaps, and the ODI debutant Matthew Breetzke takes strike, with his captain Temba Bavuma at the other end for the Proteas. And Breetzke gets off the mark straight away, hitting a length ball on middle and off to deep backward square leg.
Will O'Rourke gets rid of Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma with the short ball, inducing an edge that goes to wicketkeeper Tom Latham behind the stumps. Matt Henry and Rourke bowl unchanged for the first 10 overs, as South Africa are off to a sedate start. Matthew Breetzke is still at the crease and has scored 21 off 29 balls, while Jason Smith has joined him and is yet to get off the mark after facing eight deliveries.
RSA 46/1 in 10 overs
The Proteas have not lost any wicket in the last 13 overs. They have compiled 50 runs in the last 10 without loss, courtesy an unbroken 60-run stand between Matthew Breetzke (46 not out off 61) and Jason Smith (22 not out off 36). The run rate is under five, though it can always be elevated in the final 10 overs if wickets are in hand.
RSA 96/1 in 20 overs
BlackCaps captain Mitchell Santner produces a superb fielding effort at short cover to break the stand between Matthew Breetzke and Jason Smith. His throw catches Smith short at the striker's end, and the batter has to walk back after scoring 41 runs. Kyle Verreynne is cleaned up soon after by Michael Bracewell, and the Proteas are now three down. Breetzke still going strong and has fetched his maiden ODI half-century.
RSA 147/3 in 30 overs
After two quick wickets, South Africa have managed to stitch together another vital partnership. Breetzke has joined forces with Wiaan Mulder (20 not out off 35) to take the Proteas near 200 with the final 10 overs to come and seven wickets still in hand. Meanwhile, debutant Breetzke is nearing a hundred.
RSA 196/3 in 40 overs
Breetzke tees off in style. The 26-year-old top-order batter not only gets to a century on debut but makes it count and finishes with a 150 to his name off just 148 balls - the highest score by anyone in the world on ODI debut. With 11 fours and five sixes, his stupendous effort ensures that the Proteas end up with a total beyond 300 on the board. Wiaan Mulder plays his part with a 60-ball 64. This might not be an easy chase for the Kiwis.
RSA 304/6 in 50 overs
Will Young and Devon Conway, who has replaced the injured Rachin Ravindra, are at the crease to open the Kiwi innings. Lungi Ngidi bowls the first over for the Proteas and Young is away with a flicked four. Conway follows suit with a delectable cover-driven boundary off Eathan Bosch.
After getting New Zealand off to a sound start and compiling 50 runs for the first wicket alongside Devon Conway, Will Young falls in the 10th over. It is a soft dismissal at short fine leg, one that prompts the arrival of Kane Williamson at the crease. Required run rate hovering around 6.50.
NZ 50/1 in 10 overs
Just like the Proteas did, the BlackCaps are consolidating in the middle overs. Senior pros Devon Conway and Kane Williamson are holding fort, and Conway is nearing the half-century mark. Williamson, meanwhile, raced away to 32 off 30 balls.
NZ 105/1 in 20 overs
Williamson is turning on the heat! He is batting at a T20-like pace, hitting boundaries at will to push the Kiwi run rate well beyond 6. Together with Conway, he has made it New Zealand's match to lose. The partnership has swelled to more than 150 runs, and the asking rate is now just a shade over five.
NZ 198/1 in 30 overs
South Africa strike twice in two balls to claw their way back into the match. Wiaan Mulder pulls off an absolute stunner at long on as Senuran Muthusamy gets rid of Daryl Mitchell. Tom Latham is then trapped in front and despite a not out decision, has to walk back as the DRS rules it in the Proteas' favour. The in-form Glenn Phillips walks in and survives the hat-trick ball. Meanwhile, Kane Williamson has sped to his hundred and is unbeaten at 109 off 86 balls. The Kiwis now need 47 runs from 60 balls with six wickets in hand.
NZ 258/4 in 40 overs
Kane Williamson hits the winning runs, a boundary off Senuran Muthusamy to take New Zealand home in the 49th over with six wickets in hand. The former Kiwi skipper finishes unbeaten at 133 off 113 and goes past 7,000 ODI runs in the process. Glenn Phillips stays not out on 28 alongside. The victory takes Mitchell Santner's men into the final, which will be held in Karachi, the same venue where New Zealand play their Champions Trophy matches.
