Will Young scored an unbeaten 90 and also stitched a 93-run partnership with opening partner Rachin Ravindra which helped New Zealand dismantle Sri Lanka in the first one-day international to go 1-0 up at the Basin Reserve. Earlier on in the day, Matt Henry displayed a bowling masterclass, picking up 4 for 19. The second game will be played on Wednesday, January 8, in Hamilton.
