Here's a look at few numbers that defined the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifted their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a high-octane final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday.
There were a number of standout performers and performances in the two and a half month extravaganza 바카라“ from Sai Sudharsan바카라™s record-breaking exploits with the bat to Suryakumar Yadav바카라™s phenomenal consistency, from some outstanding fast bowling from Prasidh Krishna and Josh Hazlewood to the inspirational leadership of Shreyas Iyer for Punjab Kings, from soaring run-rates to record 200-plus totals 바카라“ we look at the 18th edition of the IPL.
1 바카라“ The first IPL title for RCB and Virat Kohli
RCB won their first IPL title after three unsuccessful attempts in the final. They were the runners-up in 2009, 2011 and 2016. Incidentally, it was also the first IPL title for Virat Kohli who is the only player in the tournament바카라™s history to have represented just one franchise.
657 & 22 - Kohli바카라™s run aggregate and Hazlewood바카라™s wicket-tally
Kohli ended the tournament as the third-highest run-getter with an aggregate of 657 runs at a strike rate of 144.7. He was the pivot around which the RCB batting order revolved through the season.
The other big star for RCB was Josh Hazlewood who was the third-highest wicket-taker of the season with 22 dismissals in 12 matches at a strike rate of 12. He was exceptional in the powerplay where he bagged 10 wickets at an economy of 7.27.
2- Krunal Pandya won his second Player of the Match Award in an IPL Final
Interestingly, the player who had a higher impact for RCB than both Kohli and Hazlewood was Krunal Pandya. He was their unsung hero of the season. The all-rounder returned with a Player of the Match performance in the final, picking two crucial wickets, conceding just 17 runs in his 4 overs. He ended the season with 17 wickets at an economy of 8.2 while also scoring a match-winning 73 under-pressure against Delhi Capitals.
Incidentally, Krunal is the only player in IPL history to have won the Player of the Match Award twice in the mega final. He scored an invaluable 47 off 38 deliveries under-pressure top-scoring for Mumbai Indians in the 2017 final against Rising Pune Supergiant in Hyderabad.
8.61 바카라“ RCB바카라™s powerplay economy rate in the tournament
While RCB were in the top cluster with respect to their batting, it was really their restrictive bowling with the new ball which had a huge bearing on their success in the tournament. RCB were the most economical bowling unit in the powerplay, conceding at just 8.6 per over!
759 바카라“ Sudharsan바카라™s record-breaking aggregate
Sai Sudharsan was a revelation at the top of the order for Gujarat Titans and ended the season as the leading run-scorer with an aggregate of 759 runs at a strike rate of 156.17. He registered six fifties and a hundred and also hit the most fours (88) in the tournament.
100% - Suryakumar Yadav바카라™s consistency rate in IPL 2025
The highest impact batter of the season was Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) 바카라“ although he scored 42 runs less than Sudharsan, the context and timing of his performances gave him a higher impact. SKY scored tough runs under-pressure, often when the openers had failed and was extremely consistent, not even failing once through the season. That he still managed to pile on 717 runs at a rate of 167.9 spoke volumes of his ability and talent.
24.66 & 16.8 바카라“ The best bowling average and strike rate for a team in IPL 2025
After a disastrous start to the season, Mumbai Indians completely changed their fortunes and rocketed to the Eliminator in what was one of the stories of the tournament. While their fightback was led by Suryakumar Yadav with the bat, it was the reunion of the pairing of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult which played a pivotal role in the dramatic turnaround. No team bagged more wickets than MI바카라™s 109 neither did any team have a better bowling average (24.66), bowling strike rate (16.8) or economy rate (8.8)!
35.46 바카라“ The best batting average for a team in IPL 2025
Gujarat Titans had the highest batting average (35.46) and batting strike rate (158.3) in the tournament. They had the most prolific top 3 this season. While the Sudharsan-Gill opening pair piled on a record 912 runs between them 바카라“ the third-highest for a pair for any wicket in IPL history, Jos Buttler provided the sparks at number 3 with 538 runs at a rate of 163.
9.62 바카라“ The record-breaking average run-rate in IPL 2025
IPL 2025 was a path-defining season in the tournament바카라™s history with high totals, record chases, fours and sixes galore and soaring run-rates. Most experts dismissed the edition as an aberration. However, as it turned out, 2024 was not an exception. It was a trend-setting year in the league바카라™s history which set the benchmark for the seasons to follow.
2025 outdid 2024 in terms of run-scoring 바카라“ the average run-rate this season was as high as 9.62 eclipsing the record set last year (9.56). The batting strike rate in the powerplay rose to 151.59 this season from 148.8 in 2024.
There were as many as 52 200-plus totals in 2025 surpassing the 41 in 2024. The total number of sixes also soared this season with as many as 1294 hits over the fence 바카라“ up by 34 from last year (1260 sixes in 2024).
