Greetings and welcome to everyone joining us this Saturday night. We will present to you the build-up and live updates from the crucial Group F encounter between Mamelodi Sundowns and Borussia Dortmund.
The game kicks off at 9:30pm IST. The Mamelodi Sundowns vs Borussia Dortmund, FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match will be live-streamed on the DAZN website for free in India. It will not be televised on any TV channels in India.
This is how the two teams line up for kick-off:
Play gets underway at the TQL Stadium. Dortmund attacking from right to left and the Sundowns from left to right in the first half. After a goalless draw in their opener, BVB really need a win tonight to strengthen their chances of qualification for the knockouts.
What a start, what a goal for the Sundowns! Lucas Ribeiro comes up with arguably the goal of the tournament so far. The Brazilian forward zooms ahead, dribbling through from the half-line and after a spectacular run, slots it in from his left foot past Gregor Kobel in the 11th minute.
Oh, no. Ronwen Williams, what have you done? The Sundowns goalkeeper has a brain fade of sorts, passing the ball inadvertently to Felix Nmecha in close range, who gleefully accepts the gift. The South African club's early glory is evaporated as Dortmund equalise in the 16th minute.
The sweltering heat in Ohio has necessitated a cooling break in the middle of the first half. Both teams get some fluids in the body and regroup before returning to the pitch. Sundowns win a corner soon after resumption, with Lucas Ribeiro in the thick of it again.
Dortmund are well on their way. Their season's top goal-scorer Serhou Guirassy is in the act again, setting it up for Julian Brandt to cross it in, and then positioning himself perfectly to head it in and put BVB in the lead in the 34th minute.
The 19-year-old Jobe Bellingham, brother of Real Madrid and England mega-star Jude Bellingham, scores for the first time in Borussia Dortmund colours. Jobe shoots on the half-volley in the 45th minute to put BVB firmly in the driver's seat with a 3-1 lead at half time.
The players are back after the mid-game interval and Dortmund now attacking from left to right, Sundowns from right to left. BVB garner a corner straight away but are unable to make much of it.
Sundowns put some pressure on the Dortmund defence, first hitting the woodwork (with Iqraam Rayners offside, however), and then earning a free-kick in a potentially dangerous position. The shot goes just over the bar.
As if the three Dortmund goals were not enough, Sundowns now concede a fourth via an own goal by Khuliso Mudau. The defender inadvertently deflects a BVB shot into his own net in the 59th minute and the South African side is now on the verge of defeat.
Iqraam Rayners scores his second in two games for Sundowns! The South African forward heads it in at the goalmouth to reduce the deficit in the 62nd minute. Dortmund still have a two-goal cushion with less than half an hour on the clock.
We are now into the final 10 minutes of regulation time. Sundowns need to score within the next five minutes, one reckons, to have any shot at victory or even a draw in this encounter. Dortmund, on the other hand, appear primed for the opening win of their Club World Cup campaign.
Sundowns get the goal they wanted! Lebo Mothiba scores in the 90th minute, latching on to Kutlwano Letlhaku's assist to unleash a right-footer into the centre of the goal. The South African club is now just one goal behind Dortmund, with six minutes of stoppage time added.
The spirited Sundowns give it their all, but are unable to draw level in the dying minutes. Dortmund while away the last few seconds with clearances and customary time-wasting, and the final whistle is sounded with the scoreline reading 4-3 in the German giants' favour.
A narrow but deserved win for the Bundesliga giants, who get their campaign on track with the result. The Sundowns, on the other hand, now have a win and a loss from two Group F games.
