Second seed Coco Gauff is set to take on French wildcard Lois Boisson in the semi-finals of the French Open 2025 on Thursday, 5 June, with the American being the heavy favourite for the clash. Gauff, a former runner-up in Paris, is playing her third Roland-Garros semi-final, while Boisson is making her first-ever Grand Slam appearance.
Gauff, playing in her fifth Grand Slam last-four appearance, has had a smooth ride so far. She had easy wins in her opening rounds, defeating Olivia Gadecki, Tereza Valentova, Marie Bouzkova, and Ekaterina Alexandrova without dropping a set.
In the quarter-finals, she faced reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys and trailed 1-4 in the opening set, eventually losing it in a close tie-break. However, she soon recovered and held off Keys바카라™ pressure to secure a 1-4, 6-4, 6-1 win. Despite the win, Gauff will be wary of the 41 unforced errors she committed in the match.
Meanwhile, Boisson is having a dream run on home soil, becoming the youngest French Grand Slam semi-finalist since 1999. Ranked 361 at the start of the tournament, the 22-year-old has been exquisite, backed by a strong home crowd.
She opened her account with a win against Elise Mertens, then proceeded to beat Anhelina Kalinina and Elsa Jacquemot. However, her best wins came in the next two rounds, taking out third seed Jessica Pegula and sixth seed Mirra Andreeva, respectively.
Despite trailing multiple times in the first and second set against Andreeva, Boisson sealed a historic 7-6 (6), 6-3 win to move to the semi-final stage.
