French Open 2025: Jack Draper And Alexander Zverev Cruise Into Last 16

After back-to-back first-round exits in the French Open in the past two years, Draper overcame what could have been a difficult hurdle with ease

Jack Draper and Alexander Zverev both reached the fourth round of the French Open with straight-sets wins on Saturday.

Draper beat Brazilian teenager Joao Fonseca 6-2 6-4 6-2 to reach the last 16 at Roland-Garros for the first time in his career.

The 23-year-old said a quick start gave him the confidence he needed to see the match through, also highlighting how playing earlier in the day benefitted his game.

"I played good. The conditions were quite difficult out here. I felt that the first set was really key," Draper said.

"Then I kind of got on top of him, used my forehand well, served well and mentally it was a good performance from me and I am happy to be in the second week here.

"In my first two rounds I played in the nighttime and playing against Gael [Monfils] the other night, I didn't feel I could hit the ball past him.

"The guy is so quick and it was so cold. But today the ball was getting up more and the faster conditions helped me more."

Draper will face either Alexander Rublik or Henrique Rocha in the fourth round.

Zverev, meanwhile, continued his search for a first grand slam title with a 6-2 7-6 6-1 win over Flavio Cobelli.

The German has just dropped one set in his three victories at the tournament this year and will face Tallon Griekspoor in the next round.
