Amit Panghal, India's only male boxer to win a world championship silver medal, has become the latest from the country to turn professional. One of India's most accomplished male boxers, the 29-year-old has signed with US-based talent management company Critical Sports and Entertainment. The Haryana boxer, who competes in the 51kg category in the amateur circuit, is yet to be allocated his maiden professional fight. The Indian shuttlers have gone down to South Korea 2-3 in a Group D tie of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship. They had already made it to the quarter-finals, however, and finish second in the pool behind South Korea. India, who had made a sizzling start on Wednesday defeating Macau 5-0, fought till the very end before the men's doubles pair of M.R. Arjun and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy lost the deciding rubber in straight games to Jin Yong and NA Sung Seung.

Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud, the Saudi ambassador to the United Kingdom has reportedly said that no alcohol will be allowed at the 2034 FIFA World Cup in Saudi Arabia. In an interview on British radio news platform LBC, Prince Khalid said alcohol would not be sold anywhere during the tournament, including hotels. "Everyone has their own culture. We're happy to accommodate people within the boundaries of our culture but we don't want to change our culture for someone else," he added.
