Since the United States of America gained independence from the British in 1776, it has fought in 13 wars. Seven of these wars have been after World War I, and nearly all of them have been fought on foreign soil.

World War I (1917바카라“1918)

The United States was part of the Allied Forces, which included the United Kingdom and other European countries against Germany and its allies. America entered the world war when it was learned that German U-boat were attacking American shipping and the Zimmermann Telegram.

America entered the war against Germany in April 1917. American Expeditionary Forces fought in France in 1918. After the Versailles treaty was signed by all allied powers, the US emerged a major power, but suffered heavy losses of about 116,000 American lives.

World War II (1941바카라“1945)

In World War II, the US sided with the Allied Forces against Germany, again. The Allies, which comprised US, Britain, USSR, France, and UK, went up against the German Axis of Germany, Italy, and Japan.

Historians believe it was the December 1941 attack on Pearl harbour that drew the US into war. The American forces were among the first to land in Normandy on D-Day in 1944. It is widely accepted that the second world war had the effect of expanding American influence on global affairs.

Korean War (1950바카라“1953)

Considered one of the first proxy wars of the Cold War era, the Korean war saw North Korea바카라”backed by China/USSR바카라” against South Korea바카라” backed by American-led United Nations forces. The root cause is the North Korean invasion of South Korea in June 1950, and the Chinese intervention that followed in 1951.

While both sides suffered heavy losses, an armistice was signed in July 1953, which led to the division Korea at the 38th parallel and withdrawal of US forces. There was no formal peace treaty; the conflict is often described as a 바카라śpolice action.바카라ť

Vietnam War (1955바카라“1975)

During the Cold War era, the US and its anti-communist allies supported South Vietnam against North Vietnam and the Viet Cong in an effort to prevent expansion of communism. The 1968 Tet offensive and My Lai massacre led to the US expanding its military presence in Vietnam in 1969.

After suffering heavy losses at the hands of the Viet Cong, the US withdrew in 1973 and North Vietnam won Saigon in April 1975. Vietnam was reunited under communist rule, and the war is by and large considered a failure for the US.

Persian Gulf War (1990바카라“1991)

An US-led coalition comprising the UK, Saudi Arabia, and others faced off with Iraq after its invasion of Kuwait on August 2, 1990. In January, 1991, the US conducted Operation Desert Storm, a huge air campaign which they followed up with a 100-hour-long ground assault the next month. Within weeks, Iraqi forces were expelled from Kuwait. Saddam Hussein remained in power in Iraq.

War in Afghanistan (2001바카라“2021)

An US-led NATO alliance faced off with the Taliban after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks by al-Qaeda, a terrorist organisation based in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. In 2001, the US invaded Afghanistan and toppled the Taliban from power and claimed to eliminate Al-Qaeda.

While the combat mission ended in 2014, officially, the US troops didn바카라™t withdraw from the country till August 2021 at which time the Taliban took over once again.

Iraq War (2003바카라“2011)

After 9/11, the US claimed that Iraq had nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. The then-president of the US, George W Bush Jr led the charge against Saddam Hussein바카라™s regime. The US바카라™s claims were later disproved, but not before the Saddam government fell in 2003.
