United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday reinstated a previous travel ban affecting 12 countries and imposed additional travel restrictions on citizens from seven more.

The restrictions will be taking effect from Monday at 12:01 AM. The affected countries include Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen; while the travel restrictions are put on visitors from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.

Trump stated that the move followed a review of visa overstay rates and the level of security cooperation with the United States. In the presidential declaration, he said that many of the affected countries either lacked credible civil documentation systems or did not cooperate with the U.S. authorities in screening travelers and accepting deported nationals.

In a video posted on social media, former President Donald Trump linked the renewed travel ban policy to a recent terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado. Citing the incident as evidence of the need for tougher immigration measures, as per the Department of Homeland Security, Trump pointed out that the suspect, who was an Egyptian citizen, had reportedly overstayed a tourist visa.

The latest travel ban comes after a January 20 executive order directing the Departments of State and Homeland Security, along with the Director of National Intelligence, to evaluate what the administration described as 바카라hostile attitudes바카라 toward the United States.

The review further examined whether travelers from specific countries posed national security threats.

During Trump바카라s first term, he signed a similar executive order in January 2017 that barred entry to citizens of seven countries바카라Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. The policy triggered mass protests at airports and sparked prolonged legal challenges.

The order was later revised and, in 2018, upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.
