Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday slammed Bangladesh, saying that those who "habitually threaten India on the Chicken's Neck corridor" should note that Bangladesh has two "chicken necks".

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday slammed Bangladesh, saying that those who "habitually threaten India on the Chicken's Neck corridor" should note that Bangladesh has two "chicken necks".
Sarma's remarks came after Muhammad Yunus highlighted India's 'landlocked' Northeast and positioned Bangladesh as the region's ocean gateway during his China visit.
While referring to India's strategically important Chicken's Neck, popularly known as the Siliguri Corridor, Sarma made the remarks. The Siliguri Corridor is a 22-35 km wide strip of land connecting India's Northeast to the mainland.
Sarma on his X handle said, "Bangladesh has two of its own 'chicken necks'. Both are far more vulnerable. First is the 80 km North Bangladesh Corridor 바카라 from Dakshin Dinajpur to South West Garo Hills. Any disruption here can completely isolate the entire Rangpur division from the rest of Bangladesh."
"Second is the 28 km Chittagong Corridor, from South Tripura till the Bay of Bengal. This corridor, smaller than India's chicken neck, is the only link between Bangladesh's economic capital and political capital," he added.
CM Himanta said that he was presenting "geographical facts that some may tend to forget".
"Just like India's Siliguri Corridor, our neighbouring country is also embedded with two narrow corridors of theirs," he further added.
In March, Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the Bangladesh government, during his visit to China, surprisingly included India's seven northeastern states.
Yunus said, "The seven states of India, the eastern part of India, are called the seven sisters. They are a landlocked region of India. They have no way to reach out to the ocean."
"So this opens up a huge possibility. This could be an extension of the Chinese economy," Yunus further said.
In response, Himanta Biswa Sarma had called the statement offensive and strongly condemnable.
"The statement made by Younis of Bangladesh, the so-called interim government referring to the seven sister states of Northeast India as landlocked and positioning Bangladesh as their guardian of ocean access, is offensive and strongly condemnable, Sarma posted on his X account.
"This remark underscores the persistent vulnerability narrative associated with India바카라s strategic 바카라Chicken바카라s Neck바카라 corridor. Historically, even internal elements within India have dangerously suggested severing this critical passageway to isolate the Northeast from the mainland physically," he added.
