Over 2000 Illegal Immigrants Deported To Bangladesh Since Operation Sindoor

Over 2000 alleged Bangladeshi migrants have been pushed back over the border since Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, according to government sources cited by The Indian Express. The report also highlighted that several migrants voluntarily showed up at the borders due to the fear generated by the crackdown. 

The round-up is being carried out along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura, Meghalaya and Assam. Gujarat accounts for nearly half of the migrants that have been pushed back. Delhi and Haryana have also removed them from their territory in large numbers. Other states including Assam, Maharashtra and Rajasthan have actively participated in the exercise. 

According to a government source, 바카라�It is an ongoing process and all states which have cities with significant economic activity are rounding up such illegal immigrants after verification of their documents. A focused effort began in this direction following the Pahalgam attacks in April. Since Operation Sindoor, it has picked up pace. Gujarat was the first off the blocks followed by Delhi and Haryana. More states will begin sending soon. The instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs are clear in this regard and the states, too, are cooperating,바카라� as reported by The Indian Express. 

The source has asserted that these migrants are being ferried to the border areas in IAF aircrafts and are being handed over to the BSF. They are housed in makeshift camps along with food and some Bangladeshi currency. They would be pushed back into their country 바카라�if needed바카라� after a few hours of detention. 

The crackdown began after relations between India and Bangladesh turned sour with a regime change in August 2024. The exercise was intensified after the Pahalgam terror attack that occurred on April 22, with the Ministry of Home Affairs directing the states  to intensify the drive against undocumented migrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar. 

MEA바카라�S Earlier Directive 

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, it had asked the Bangladesh government to expedite the verification of the nationality of 2369 illegal immigrants for deportation, as of May 22. The MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also claimed that several of these immigrants have been pending verification since 2020. 

While addressing a press briefing, Jaiswal asserted that, "Foreigners staying in India illegally, whether they happen to be Bangladeshi nationals or any other national, will be dealt with as per law. We have a large number of Bangladeshi nationals here who are required to be deported.바카라�
