A fresh political row erupted on Tuesday with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann hitting out at the BJP over its alleged nationwide 'Sindoor' campaign. The chief minister accused the ruling party of politicising Indian traditions for electoral gains.

While campaigning for the upcoming Ludhiana West Assembly bypolls, Mann said, "BJP is seeking votes in the name of Operation Sindoor. These people have turned 'sindoor' into a joke. They are sending sindoor to every home. Will you now apply 'sindoor' in (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi's name? Is this a 'one nation, one husband' scheme?"

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader's remark came after the BJP recently announced the launch of a nationwide campaign to showcase the Modi-led government's success in Operation Sindoor, India's counterstrike to the Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 innocents dead.

Following the announcement, some reports claimed that the BJP would send 'sindoor' - vermilion - to every home as part of the campaign.

Echoing similar sentiments, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh also criticised the alleged campaign as a 바카라cheap political stunt.바카라 "Do chutki sindoor ka mahatva aap kya jante hai Modiji?", Singh had posted on X.

바카라In Indian culture, women apply sindoor as a symbol of their husband's long life, respect and well-being. It reflects pride, dignity, and deep emotional meaning. But now, after pushing schemes like 'One Nation, One Election' and 'One Nation, One Leader', the Prime Minister appears to have launched 'One Nation, One Husband',바카라 he charged.

Recently, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also slammed PM Modi for the choice of 'Operation Sindoor' as the name of India's strikeback.

"The name 'Operation Sindoor' was their brainchild. It was politically motivated. I did not want to say this, especially when the multi-party delegations are visiting several countries and explaining India's stand. But today, the Prime Minister came to West Bengal with the motive of political propaganda", Mamata said after PM Modi visited Bengal.

India Launched Operation Sindoor

On May 7, India launched precision strikes targeting key terror bases in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) and Pakistan under the codename Operation Sindoor.

The retaliation came in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which led to an escalation by Pakistan as it launched drones and missiles, targeting Indian border cities.

After four days of intense border tensions, both countries agreed to a ceasefire.
