FIR filed under multiple sections after June 4 incident outside Chinnaswamy Stadium leaves 11 dead, several injured.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), event management company DNA Entertainment Private Limited, and the administrative committee of the Karnataka State Cricket Association following the stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, which resulted in 11 deaths and several injuries.
The FIR was filed at the Cubbon Park Police Station under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by using dangerous weapons or means), 190 (liability of members of an unlawful assembly for offences committed in pursuit of a common object), 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging their duty), 125(12) (acts endangering life or personal safety of others), 142 (unlawful assembly), and 121 (abetment of an offence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The incident took place during the public celebration of RCB바카라™s first-ever Indian Premier League (IPL) title. According to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, while the stadium capacity was 35,000, an estimated 2 to 3 lakh people had gathered around the venue.
Photographs from the scene showed abandoned footwear, collapsed barriers, and people gathered outside the stadium a day after the incident.
The Karnataka government has announced a compensation of ₹10 lakh to the families of each of the deceased and assured free medical treatment for the injured. Several victims are being treated at Bowring and other hospitals in Bengaluru.
