The second day of the first Test between India and England at Headingley, Leeds was packed with thrills, record-breaking performances, rain, and drama. India posted a commanding 471 including three centuries in their first innings before England responded strongly, reaching 209/3 at stumps.

India, playing without legends Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin, looked a bit vulnerable on paper--but under new captain Shubman Gill, they came out firing. Asked to bat first, India dominated Day 1. Yashasvi Jaiswal hit his fifth Test century with a 101, while Gill led from the front with a solid 127. Rishabh Pant, also with half ton 67 runs, helping India to 359/3 at stumps of the first day.

Day 2 began with Gill adding 20 more to his tally before falling for 147. Rishabh Pant then took charge, smashing his seventh Test century and scoring 134, taking India to a strong 471 in the first innings.

Rain poured in before England's reply that started shakily with Zak Crawley being dismissed for just 4, but Ben Duckett steadied the innings with a brisk 62. Ollie Pope followed up with a brilliant unbeaten century, anchoring the innings as England ended Day 2 at 209/3, with Harry Brook joining him at the crease after Joe Root fell for 28.

Rishabh Pant Backflip Celebration:

It was June 21--International Yoga Day--and who better to celebrate it in style than Rishabh Pant? At Headingley, Pant brought up his century in spectacular fashion, smashing a six off the first ball of the 100th over from Shoaib Bashir.

What stole the show, though, was his celebration: a full somersault on the field, drawing cheers all around. The video has gone viral, and the somersault now looks set to become Pant바카라™s trademark century celebration. That's what he had done earlier in IPL 2025 after scoring a ton for Lucknow Super Giants.

With this knock, Pant also etched his name in the record books, surpassing MS Dhoni (6) for the most Test centuries (7) by an Indian wicketkeeper.

Jasprit Bumrah's Record:

England lost three wickets on Day 2 of their first innings--and all three belonged to Jasprit Bumrah. With those scalps, Bumrah바카라™s tally in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) climbed to 147 wickets, making him the most successful Asian bowler in these regions. He surpassed the legendary Wasim Akram of Pakistan, who had 146 wickets, while Anil Kumble had 141.

Ollie Pope's Century:

Ollie Pope scored an unbeaten century on Day 2, reaching the milestone with an inside edge off the dangerous Jasprit Bumrah after he dismissed Zak Crawley early for just 4 runs. Pope steadied England바카라™s innings with a 122-run stand alongside Ben Duckett. It was his eighth Test hundred and first against India at home.

However, The ton didn't come easily, he survived two chances--an LBW appeal on 34 and a dropped catch on 60--and ended the day on 100 runs. His innings helped England close at 209/3, after India posted 471.
