Superstar Aamir Khan, who is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, has opened up about the criticism his film, PK faced when it was released in 2014. There were claims that the movie promoted 바카라˜love jihad바카라™ and anti-religious sentiments. Here's what Aamir said about the controversy.

In an interview with India TV, Aamir Khan called the allegations 'wrong' and said, "We're not against any religion. We respect all religions and all religious people. That film just tells us to be cautious of those who exploit religion to fool the common man in order to extract money from them. You'll find people like that in every religion. That was the film's only purpose."

Addressing the allegations of promoting 'love jihad', Aamir said that when people from two religions, particularly Hindu and Muslim, fall in love and get married, that's not always love jihad. "This is just humanity. It's above religion," he said.

In PK, it was shown that a Hindu woman from India (Anushka Sharma) falls in love with a Pakistani Muslim man and tries to marry him (late Sushant Singh Rajput).

Aamir also asked if his sisters and daughter marrying Hindu men will also be considered love jihad.

When the Laal Singh Chaddha actor was asked why the names of his children are Ira Khan, Junaid Khan and Azad Rao Khan when he had Hindu wives, he replied that their names were given by his wives and there wasn't "any interference" from his side.

Aamir also broke silence on backlash over late response to Pahalgam terror attack. The actor condemned the terror attack almost over a week later. He received criticism for releasing his official statement hours before the release of Sitaare Zameen Par trailer.

Reacting to it, he said he is not on social media and people react instantly to these events there.

He also said that his statement and the release of his film바카라™s trailer, a coincidence and added, "If I speak about our forces delivering a befitting response, then am I doing something wrong? Should I think about the film or about our forces at that time? If I keep quiet just because my film is about to release, I feel that's wrong. So I spoke about it openly."

Mr Perfectionist also clarified that the trailer was supposed to release much earlier, but he cancelled it because of the attack.

Coming back to Sitaare Zameen Par, the film is all set to hit theatres on June 20.
