Dia Mirza is one of the most popular actors in the industry. She won the Miss Asia Pacific International title in 2000, and made her Hindi film debut with Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, alongside R Madhavan. Like any other outsider in the industry, she also faced several ups and downs in the early days of her career.
In a conversation with Official People Of India, Dia revealed that she had to share her room with her hairdresser to avoid unwanted knocks at night.
When the actress was asked about her journey as an outsider, she said, "I바카라™ll have to write a book about that someday. There바카라™s so much, there are so many layers to that question. But, if I have to be simple, it was hard and terrifying."
Elaborating further, Dia Mirza said, "My hairdresser used to share my room with me for many years to ward off unwanted visitors. It was really hard. I myself look back now and think I don바카라™t know how I managed."
She further said that other women in the industry have always had their parents around to actively participant in their film career but Dia never had that. So, her team including her hairdresser, makeup artist, and spot boy took care of her safety and that's why she never changed those technicians and the support group for years.
"Prasad anna was my spot boy for all of the years that I worked until he passed away. I lost him during Covid. My hairdresser worked with me for 16-17 years straight, from my first film. That kind of created a safety net for me. We have to find out own ways to survive," she added.
Dia also shared her opinion on how women characters today are better due to female writers than how men wrote their roles in the past. She said doing so many scenes and characters, without even realising how regressive they were and she was being objectified, or "how patriarchal the mindset was in the projection of the character."
"All of that only becomes something that you learn about and become aware of, therefore you can make better choices later," she added.
