For the first time, on the 40th anniversary of the tragic Air India Flight 182 (Kanishka) bombing, India, Ireland, and Canada united to commemorate and pay their respects to the 329 lives taken on the Air India Flight 182.

On June 23, 1985, the Air India flight operational on the Montreal바카라“London바카라“Delhi바카라“Mumbai route disintegrated mid-air due to an in-flight bomb detonated by Khalistani terrorists. The plane crashed 190 kilometres off the coast of Ireland. All 329 on board the plane died.

The anniversaries of the major aviation disaster have been held yearly in Cork County Council in Ireland since 1985. This year, however, the three nations united in Cork and New Delhi to pay their respects.

An Indian delegation headed by Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, Canadian Minister of Public Safety Gary Anandasangaree, local Irish officials, first responders, and families of the victims attended the event. The presence of the Indian delegation and Canadian ministers was seen as a step to bolster bilateral ties between the two countries.

바카라œThe world needs to come together 바카라“ not only in isolated episodes of solemn mourning such as these, but in collective, proactive efforts to combat terrorism,바카라 said Puri, calling the international community to unite to fight terrorism.

Recalling the deadly April 22 Pahalgam terror attacks, Puri emphasised that terror-based attacks are 'not an episode of the past', but continue to fester as present-day threats. He stated that global terrorism-related deaths have increased by 22 per cent as of 2024.

Puri ended his address with a call for a united global front to combat terrorism. 바카라œLet us redouble our efforts to ensure that what happened on June 23, 1985, is never repeated, not here, not in India, not anywhere in the world,바카라 he said.

바카라œCanada is a valued partner and friend. We share vibrant cultural and economic relations with each other. India and Canada are bound by democratic traditions바카라, Puri further acknowledged.
