England have suffered a fresh injury setback ahead of their upcoming white-ball assignments as pacer Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against West Indies, starting May 29 at Edgbaston, due to a right-thumb injury.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the development on Tuesday, stating that Archer will be assessed further over the next fortnight by the medical team to determine his recovery timeline.

The 30-year-old speedster, who has faced repeated injury concerns over the past few seasons, was also not part of the squad for the one-off Test against Zimbabwe scheduled later this month.

Archer바카라™s absence is another blow to England바카라™s plans to manage his workload and build rhythm ahead of a busy summer. Having returned to competitive action during the IPL 2025 season, expectations were high for the pacer to reclaim his spot in England바카라™s limited-overs setup.

In Archer바카라™s place, left-arm seamer Luke Wood has been drafted into the ODI squad. The 29-year-old has impressed in recent T20 leagues, notably picking up 11 wickets in eight matches for Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League.

Wood바카라™s inclusion offers variety with his angle and swing, and he will now have a chance to stake his claim in England바카라™s pace department.

The ODI series against West Indies, beginning May 29 in Birmingham, will serve as key preparation for England ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy next year and the ongoing reshuffle of their bowling arsenal.
