The teams in the league had to feature at least 7 USAC affiliated or associate players in the playing XI and the failure to do so has led to the strict action of ICC. The report also mentions the breach of sanction regulations by the tournament authorities as one of the reasons. The pitches too were not up to standard and the report also mentions potential violations of US immigration laws.
NCL had attracted some top names of the cricketing world. Stars like Wasim Akram and Vivian Richards were brought on board as the brand ambasadors of the tournament. Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar were also part of the ownership group.
The Cricbuzz report talks about ICC's worry about mushrooming T20 and T10 cricket leagues all over the world. The cricket body is now mulling to establish stricter guide to sanction more of such leagues.
Recently, the number of T20 and T10 leagues have shot up. Long before NCL, Indian Cricket League, another high profile league also regarded as a precursor of the Indian Premier League, was also blacklisted.
