KICK OFF!

Here comes the opening whistle and we are underway in Paris. Aston Villa begin with the ball.

14' A dominating start for PSG and they have really put Aston Villa under pressure early in the game. Dembele got a great cance to help his side take lead but he missed. It is still a goalless affair but PSG are threatening to take the lead anytime.

23' Just over the bar and PSG miss another chance. This was a brilliant pass from Ousmane Dembele to set up a shot for Vitinha who fires the ball just above the post. A close miss.

35' GOAL!

Youri Tielemans prepares the ball for Morgan Rogers who does the rest and helps Aston Villa take the lead against the run of play. What a moment. Despite dominating, PSG are now trailing by a goal.

38' GOAL!

PSG restore parity and that too just minutes after Villa took the lead. Desire Doue finds the back of the net and gets his name registered on the scoresheet. The game is back on level terms now.

So there is the half-time whistle and players head back to the dressing room. Even as PSG continued to create chances, Aston Villa took the lead. However, PSG struck back soon to take the game to the break on parity.

Second half is underway now. It was 1-1 in the first and an important 45 or so minutes await both the sides. Who will go tonight with an advantage?

49' GOAL!

PSG take the lead. What a brilliant strike from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Superb individual effort and he beats Emiliano Martinez with a beauty. Brilliant and Aston Villa have been put under pressure right after the break.

85' We are now moving towards the end of this game and PSG are looking set to take this lead into the second leg. There is still enough time for Aston Villa to come back but they will need a moment of brilliance in what has been a very ordinary display so far from the Villans.

90+3' GOAL!

Nuno Mendes makes it even better for the hosts. He makes a brilliant solo run and fires it past Emiliano Martinez to make it 3-1. Aston Villa would be going home with a two-goal deficit.

The first leg of this quarterfinal is done and PSG have won it 3-1. A completely dominating performance and the scoreline aptly captures the one-sided nature of the game. Rogers opened the scoring for Aston Villa against the run of play but the lead did not last long as Doue fired the equaliser. In the second half, PSG struck two more times to make it three to one. A lot of work to do for Aston Villa in the second leg while PSG would feel they have put a foot in the semifinals.

The second leg between PSG and Aston Villa will be on April 15 (April 16 IST).
