Deepika Padukone reportedly walked out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga바카라™s Spirit due to 바카라˜unreasonable바카라™ demands including eight-hour workday, which apparently created a rift with the latter. The Animal director seemingly called out Deepika by questioning her "professionalism" and accusing her of playing "dirty PR games." This created a buzz on social media, where misogyny in society and film industry have yet again become the topics of discussion.

Amid this, Ajay Devgn, and Kajol supported 8-hour shift for new mothers in the film industry. Even Saif Ali Khan advocated family time for actors. Now, filmmaker Mani Ratnam is the latest one to back Deepika and called her reported 8-hour shift demand "rightful".

During an interview with NDTV for his film Thug Life, Mani Ratnam opened up about the challenges faced by working young mothers.

He said, "It's fair if she's a young mother and needs to take care of her child, and she chooses something that will allow her to do so without any hindrance."

"I think it's nice when women ask for what they want and get what they want. It's a very healthy sign," he added.

The filmmaker also said industry should accommodate such requests.

"If it doesn't fit into your film, move on. But they should be respected for what they are asking. They are making a very fair demand, which is absolutely necessary, so we should acknowledge it and see how to live with it," he said further.

In another interview with News18, the Ponniyin Selvan director said, "I think it is a rightful demand. I바카라™m glad she바카라™s in a position to ask for it. I think as a filmmaker, you will take that into consideration when you cast. It is not an unreasonable thing to ask, but an absolute necessity. I think that should be the priority. You have to acknowledge that, understand it and work around it."

Deepika Padukone was supposed to star opposite Prabhas in Spirit, (though she was officially not announced to be part of the film) but as per reports, she demanded eight-hour shifts, huge remuneration, a share in profits, and also refused to deliver her dialogues in Telugu and wanted them to be dubbed, which irked Vanga and resulted in her exit from the film. Later, the director announced Triptii Dimri as the female lead of Spirit.
