A London-bound Air India flight 171 crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport, on Thursday, June 12. The flight carrying 242 people including the crew, slammed into a government hospital hostel in Meghaninagar. All but one passenger, a British national named Vishwashkumar Ramesh, survived the tragic accident.
Following the Air India plane crash, condolences are pouring in on social media from the Indian film industry. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has also expressed grief over the plane crash.
Mr Bachchan, on Friday, shared a post on X, where he wrote, "Hey bhagwan! Hey bhagwan! Hey bhagwan! Stabdh! Sunn! Ishwar kripa! Hriday se prarthnaein! (Oh god! Oh god! Oh god! Stunned! Numb! God have mercy of us! Heartfelt prayers!)".
On the day the devastating incident happened, several celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Sunny Deol and Anupam Kher, among others shared condolences to the victims' families and friends.
According to Air India authorities, the passengers included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national.
As per reports, some victims were from Ahmedabad's BJ Medical College campus. The death toll has mounted to 274.
