Iran has retaliated to the Israeli airstrike on its nuclear and military targets by firing scores of ballistic missiles on Tel Aviv late Friday, Associated Press and CNN have reported. Reports include explosions flaring in the skies over Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and shaking buildings below.

The state news agency IRNA has said that hundreds of ballistic missiles had been launched. IRNA added that the missile launches were Iran's retaliation for Israel's "biggest attack on Iran."

Earlier on Friday, Israel had conducted airstrikes "blasting Iran's huge underground nuclear site at Natanz and wiping out its top military commanders," Reuters reported.

BBC has reported that Iran's state-run Fars news agency said Iran plans to continue its strikes on Israel beyond the initial Friday night strikes. According to the BBC, the agency cites an unnamed official. The official, who was referencing comments made by senior military commanders, says that Iran will also target US bases in the region in the coming days.

New Delhi is closely watching developments and its missions in both Iran and Israel are in touch with the Indian community. India is also urging restraint to both sides, reports Seema Guha

The IDF has told the media that several Iranian UAVs were intercepted by the Israeli air force after sirens around the areas of the West Bank and the Dead Sea.

The sirens had sounded shortly after 08:00 local time (12AM IST).

The Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) has reported that least two people have died following Iran's retaliatory strikes on Israel. Earlier it had reported that at least 21 people were injured in Israel's Coastal Plains region.

As per BBC, Israeli military said that the country's air force hit "dozens" of targets in Tehran overnight, including surface-to-air missile infrastructure.

Quoting Major General Tomer Bar, BBC reported that the strikes had "operational and national significance".

Amid the ongoing escalation, IDF has said that the Israeli air force is ready to resume striking targets in Iran.

As per BBC, IDF Chief of Staff Lt Gen Eyal Zamir and Israeli Air Force Chief Maj Gen Tomer Bar gave a joint situational assessment. They say "the way to Iran has been paved".

Lebanon has reopened its airspace after a temporary closure in view of the evolving situation between Israel and Iran. A little earlier, we reported Jordan had also reopened its airspace, as per BBC.

However, there has been no update from Israel's Ministry of Transport since yesterday, when it announced Israel's airspace would be closed "until further notice".

Iranian state media outlet IRNA has also said that no flights will operate in the country "until further notice".

The Israeli military on Saturday apologised for posting a map that incorrectly depicted Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan after objections from Indian social media users, clarifying that the image "fails to precisely depict borders".

The map was posted by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) on their X handle on Friday to show the range of Iranian missiles. The post quickly drew criticism from social media users in India.  "Now you understand why India remains neutral. In diplomacy, no one바카라�s really your friend," one user commented on X.

In response, the IDF admitted that the map "fails to precisely depict borders".

"This post is an illustration of the region. This map fails to precisely depict borders. We apologize for any offense caused by this image," IDF said on X.

 Israel's Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, on Saturday expressed optimism about India바카라�s potential to mediate in the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran following a telephonic conversation between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"India has avenues for dialogue with both sides. It can indeed play a role. We are happy to have this sincere dialogue with India, which is a very good friend... We listen carefully to your concerns. I think they are legitimate," Azar said in an interview with PTI Videos.

The remarks came amid heightened tensions in West Asia, with both Israel and Iran launching strikes against each other.

Netanyahu called Prime Minister Modi on Friday to brief him on Israel's actions, which the ambassador described as defensive measures to counter an "existential threat" posed by Iran's nuclear ambitions and ballistic missile programme.

Without clarifying the extent of damage, Behrouz Kamalvandi, the spokesperson of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran said that the nuclear facilities in Fordow and Isfahan were not extensively damaged in an attack by Israel on Friday.

Kamalvandi, on Friday, played down the extent of damage inflicted on Iran바카라�s primary nuclear enrichment plant in Natanz, saying the facility 바카라�did not encounter serious damage.바카라�

Citing Iran's state-affiliated Fars news agency, BBC reported that Israel targeted the provinces of East Azerbaijan, Lorestan and Kermanshah on Saturday in a new round of strikes.

As per the report, four areas were hit in East Azerbaijan, northwest Iran. Explosions were heard in Khorramabad, Lorestan province and Kermanshah, in western Iran.

Amid the ongoing conflict, Iran is still undecided about participating in the scheduled nuclear negotiations with the US in Oman on Sunday.

Earlier, Tehran said Israeli strikes were conducted with Washington바카라�s approval and therefore render negotiations with the US "meaningless".

Foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baqai told state TV on Saturday that a final decision about attending the planned sixth round of talks over Iran바카라�s nuclear programme remains unclear.
